Royal Plastics Corporate Offices
Project Details
The owner and president of this large manufacturing business owned a parcel of land, a portion of which he earmarked for the corporate headquarters for his growing company. The balance of the land would be divided and sold. He chose the most contoured and thus difficult portion of the land on which to develop his building. The site consisted of a 30-foot drop from south to north with a dry riverbed traversing through the eastern side. The headquarters would incorporate several different and unique functions within one building. These functions included office space (which is further divided into administrative, purchasing, sales, accounting, and engineering), storage, testing facility, pre-production fabrication area, product warehouse, formal lobby, training area, and personnel amenities including a gym, cafeteria, outdoor patio, and exercise area. These amenities would be used both during and after business hours by headquarters personnel and off site manufacturing facility employees. While stipulating that the office and open workstation areas must provide for a maximum density the owner desired that workstations be identical in size and that all stations have access to natural light as well as support areas. This new corporate headquarters consolidates the administrative, engineering and testing functions into one main building in close proximity to their other facilities. The new, three level contemporary structure, is situated on a sloping site, and features a metal panel, block, brick and glass facade. A large gymnasium and cafeteria situated on the highest point of the site will serve both staff from this building as well as Royal’s other facilities.
