Utilizing the footprint of the existing traditional media center, this space was completely renovated transforming it into a Learning Commons more fitting with current day needs. Prominently located off of the main building entry, the south facade was opened up with new storefront bringing in an abundance of natural light. Additional glass at the entry provides visible connections to the main corridor and office.

This space was successful in providing a highly flexible, collaborative and magnetic space for students and staff offering a variety of choices in environments to give students autonomy in how it’s utilized. The space features six small group rooms for 4-6, a large conferencing room sized for 50 and a help desk staffed by media specialists and technology staff to support student needs. The print collection was significantly reduced and co-located in the northwest corner and peppered throughout on low mobile shelving units which double to define different zones. The remaining area features zones for more individually focused tasks as well as a variety of settings for focused group work or social interactions.
