In 2021, Ivy Tech Community College approved a 19th location for their nursing program at their Hamilton County campus. The new nursing program helps address the need for credentialed nurses in the area. Previously operated as a high school, the renovated space creates a prominent and accessible environment to foster the growth of Ivy Tech’s Nursing, CNA, and Medical Assisting programs and becomes a premier destination for future healthcare professionals. GMB helped fast track the design and construction of the project to welcome the first cohort of students in January 2023. The design team worked closely with the college and contractor to find creative solutions and develop appropriate design alterations to accommodate the accelerated timeframe and supply chain shortages.

The new, state-of-the-art healthcare lab spaces now permanently houses Ivy Tech’s CNA and Medical Assisting programs. The facility was purposefully designed for training the next generation of nurses and the spaces were custom tailored to Ivy Tech’s program. The school contains skills labs and simulation labs, new classrooms, a new computer lab, and a dedicated program hub. The hub offers a gathering space for the students and faculty enrolled in these programs to socially interact, relax, and study.

The facility was also designed with future growth in mind, providing an efficient layout and creating integration for future use with technology and flexible furniture. An adjacent 3,400 square foot space is available to renovate based on future needs to support the School of Nursing programs. Interior design services for this project were led by McGee Designhouse, providing the space with a welcoming entrance, consistent color palette, and modern feel. JPS Consulting Engineers provided structural engineering services.
